Short version: Shopify's built-in analytics dashboard is fine for revenue numbers. It can't tell you that the Instagram reel you posted Tuesday morning drove 47 visits and 2 sales. Small Business Analytics scans your Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn posts every morning and connects each one to the traffic spike (and order spike) it caused. Pair SBA with Shopify Analytics and you have the full picture: what's selling from Shopify, why it's selling from SBA.
Shopify's built-in analytics dashboard does revenue and order data well. Where it falls short for small store owners:
Start your free trial at app.smallbusinessanalytics.io. On the setup screen, you'll see a single line of code with your unique tenant ID. Copy it.
In your Shopify admin (yourstore.myshopify.com/admin), click Online Store in the left sidebar, then Themes. Your active theme is at the top — click the ••• menu next to it and pick Edit code.
In the file list on the left, look under the Layout folder near the top and click theme.liquid.
In the code editor, press Ctrl+F (Windows) or Cmd+F (Mac) and search for </head>. The editor will jump to the line.
Click on the line just above the </head> tag and paste the snippet you copied. It looks like:
<script src="https://app.smallbusinessanalytics.io/tracker.js?tid=YOUR_ID" async></script>
Click Save in the top right corner. Shopify takes effect immediately — no publish step needed.
Go back to SBA's setup screen and click Run a test visit. We'll visit your store, confirm the tracker is installed, and seed your dashboard with a sample session. If something's off, Alfred walks you through fixing it.
